Stereolithography (SLA)

Stereolithography (SLA)

SLA (Stereolithography) 3D printing is one of the earliest commercialized 3D printing technologies and also one of the most widely used. It utilizes ultraviolet light to irradiate liquid photosensitive resin, causing a polymerization reaction that solidifies layer by layer to create a three-dimensional solid. Because the raw material is liquid, supports are required during printing, and these supports are manually removed after printing is complete.

Applications of SLA 3D Printing

SLA (Surface Mount Technology) is an excellent choice for prototype fabrication and small-batch production, where high-precision parts with smooth surfaces are required. SLA is available in a range of different materials, including standard photosensitive resin, high-toughness photosensitive resin, high-temperature resistant photosensitive resin, and translucent/fully transparent photosensitive resin materials. SLA is suitable for craft model fabrication, testing new product assembly prototypes, and small-batch production or customized parts.

SLA 3D Printing Tips

SLA machining produces high-precision parts and can process complex-shaped components. Parts are typically priced by weight, so to reduce costs, you can hollow out your parts without affecting appearance and usability. However, it's important to ensure there are overflow holes for any uncured material inside the cavity to prevent uncured resin from affecting product precision.
